If I were held at gunpoint or tortured into defining myself as an artist, I would have to say whereas I was expecting to be a starving artist, I'm now more of a casual one.
Over-specialization, I blame that. At my worst, I was drawing, painting, acting, sculpting, writing, playing music, etc. It's really awkward to get more than passing familiarity with a dozen different mediums. Though it's quite the entertaining challenge, huh?
So I chopped out the acting, sculpting and painting - now I draw, still play music (occasionaly, I still write, but I haven't recorded anything professionally in about 10 years), and also enjoy the sometimes glee of capturing the perfect picture through a camera.
The laptop has opened up a lot of options for me - my digital tablet helps me save money on paints, brushes, paper, etc... and yet still allows me the flexibility of time, so I can just totally piss off other concerns from time to time for a video game or four.
I guess I'm still kind of going for the whole "renaissance man" vibe. Not that it's planned, I just can't help myself.
I started winding my way through this lovely place a few months back, and now I think I'm gonna be in Big Trouble as it gives such a great exploratory opportunity. I'll keep a walkie talkie handy in case I get lost.
I'll have to drop down some other materials too.
OH. And if you're interested in checking out the music I've done, feel free to drop by [link] - I uploaded some free mp3s to check out.
Does that sound too self-indulgent? Well, just come back here when you're done. This place is too cool to leave for very long.
